3DS firmware, Mario Kart 7 updated

Your online Mario Kart 7 racing experience should now be filled with less cheaters, thanks to a patch released last night that fixes the shortcut glitches in Maka Wuhu, Wuhu Loop, and GBA Bowser Castle 1. You won’t be able to play online without downloading this update from the eShop.

A 3DS firmware update was also made available last night, updating the system software to version 4.1.0-8. In case you’re wondering what the deal is with this update, users haven’t reported any major changes so far, except for the ability to access the System Update option while parental controls are turned on, without a PIN. So… the only thing this system update affects is system updates. Cool.

Obama’s likely Republican opponent,Mitt Romney, opposes gay marriage, and fought his state’s highest court, as governor, when Massachusetts became the first state to legalize gay marriage in 2004. Romney said on the campaign trail Monday that he continues to oppose gay marriage.

“My view is that marriage is a relationship between a man and a woman,” Romney said. “That’s the position I’ve had for some time, and I don’t intend to make any adjustments at this point. … Or ever, by the way.”

Mr. Romney will change his mind about anything, except human rights: he is adamantly opposed to those.

Couldn’t confirm the dates on all of these, but Bubble Bobble is an arcade game released in 1986 that was ported to basically every system that exists. Here are a couple of choice covers. Lucky Cha Cha Cha Wow!

My favorite is the Disk System cover. One day I will realize my dream to own a Famicom + Disk System (that works).

Kokuga, an upcoming 3DS shooter from G•Rev directed by Hiroshi Iuchi, director of Ikaruga and Radiant Silvergun (two of my favorite games of all time!).

One neat thing is if you use your 3DS to go to the game’s website (http://www.kokuga.net) you can view screenshots in 3D. Just navigate there using your 3DS browser and tap on the first set of images after the youtube video link.

The game looks like a tank load of fun: multiplayer, puzzle mechanics, psycho boss battles and crazy weapons… All it needs is a Hitoshi Sakimoto score and I can safely say “Shut up and take my money!”

I’m not a fan of Mr. King’s novels (though The Shining may be my favorite film of all time I believe that has more to do with Mr. Kubrick), but I am a fan of this article.

This notion of citizenship has me very interested and contemplative recently. I tend to agree with the philosophical position that citizenship is an all or nothing proposition. The status quo of the rich, their tax “burden” and their relationship to labor is analogous to the pot dealer who calls the cops expecting help when his stash has been stolen.

My current desktop; from the game I ~~am currently playing~~ recently cleared, “The Last Story.”

I have been super late about posting this. It has been my current desktop since the game came out; however, I have just cleared the game today, so it’s days as my desktop are numbered until I decide which game to play next and find a good wallpaper from it.

The makeshift telescope that is featured in the image was one of my favorite things about the game. In an odd way it, and the story of the Outsider reminded me of Melancholia.

I’ll write a post-playthrough essay about the game in a future post, but right now the more pressing issue is what game should I play next.

Here are my choices:

Just learned from this site that Aphex Twin was originally going to be in Rez, or at least was one of the artists that were considered for the game. Rez is one of my favorite games, and I really liked the mostly trance music that is in it. But Aphex Twin? Could have been the best game ever.

The answer is simple and clear. The Tales of series is fundamentally an RPG characterized by the strengths of Japanese RPGs. We will continue to perfect our technical abilities and expression this way. So we have no intention to make games specifically for western audiences by, for example, making them more realistic.
